About Player

Dickson Mataama is a dynamic Ugandan forward whose rise to the top flight has been built on determination, natural goal-scoring instincts, and consistent performances in the lower leagues. Born on 22 May 1998 in Jinja, a city with a strong football culture, Mataama developed his talent with Jinja North Football Club, progressing from a promising youth player to one of the team’s most reliable attacking threats. His breakthrough moment came in 2022 when he scored a decisive goal in the FUFA Big League promotion playoffs in Iganga, helping Jinja North secure their place in the country’s second tier. Over the course of two seasons, he netted 13 goals, earning a reputation for being both quick and clinical in front of goal. His performances inevitably caught the attention of Uganda Premier League scouts, and in mid-2024 BUL FC signed him on a three-year contract as part of their strategy to strengthen their attack. Head coach Abbey Kikomeko Bogere praised Mataama’s pace, movement, and finishing ability, expressing confidence that he could be a consistent source of goals and a strong partner to experienced forwards like Alex Kitata. For Mataama, this transfer represents not only a step up in competition but also a chance to prove himself among the country’s elite, with a personal target of at least 15 goals in his debut season. His journey from local talent in Jinja to a key signing for one of the Uganda Premier League’s ambitious sides reflects both his persistence and his readiness to make a major impact at the highest level.
