MATCH PREVIEW: BUL FC LOCK HORNS WITH ANKOLE LIONS

This Tuesday will see BUL Football Club return to Kyabazinga stadium to take on Mbarara City at 3PM.

The Eastern Giants arrive at the game fresh off a 2-0 away victory at Onduparaka last Saturday. Two stunning goals from Martin Aprem gave Alex Isabirye’s men a hard fought win, ensuring the side are in a positive mindset heading into this mid week’s fixture.

Victory against Caterpillars moved them into fourth place, adding to the three points they had picked up off Police in their opening game.

But Mbarara City have a history of troubling BUL. Back in May, the Eastern Giants had to come from behind through Richard Wandyaka to salvage a point after Jude Ssemugabi had got  the Ankole Lions in the driving seat earlier on.

The visitors occupy third place in the standings and also head into this encounter with a 2-1 win last time out at Arua Hills SC.

This will be the ninth meeting between the two teams. Both sides tally six points but only distinguished by goal difference.

Team News

The Eastern Giants have no injuries to contend with. Simon Peter Oketch and Joseph Semujju have missed the opening two games because of injuries but they are now healthy and could both feature on Tuesday.

Coach’s comments

Team manager Alex Isabirye said he anticipates Mbarara City to pose a threat but he expects his team to have the last laugh in the end.

“Mbarara City is a good team. They were ahead of us last season and they retained most of their players,”

“I know it will not be an easy game, it is going to be a tough one but we are ready for it.”

“We want to compete this season and not to participate. We have no injuries and we therefore expect to win the game.”

“We are playing at home and the players know we need those three points.”

“We have been prepared very well; we shall fight hard to get the  three points against Ankole Lions,* forward Dickson Nuwamanya said.

BUL FC and Mbarara City settled for a one all draw in a game that was punctuated by adverse weather conditions at Kyabazinga Stadium.

Jude Ssemugabi pounced onto a lose ball near the box to give the visitors the advantage after Innocent Wafula cross was deflected by Walter Ochora.

Richard Wandyaka equalized on the stroke of halftime with a powerful header off Robert Mukongotya’s delivery.

Referee called off the clash in the 59 minute when the playing surface couldn’t allow play to continue. The scores were still standing at 1-1.

The teams took to the pitch again on Sunday to play out the remaining 31 minutes, but nevertheless, the scores did not change.
