BUL FC is delighted to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Ramz Kawooya on a two-year contract. Kawooya makes the switch from Express FC, where he spent the 2023-2024 season.
The skilled midfielder boasts an impressive career, having played for several Swedish clubs, including Vaxjo United (2012-2016), Almeboda IF Inneryd (2017-2019), FK Karlskrona (2019-2021), and IF Nybro (2022-2023).
Kawooya’s outstanding form with IF Nybro earned him the prestigious Player of the Season award for 2022-2023. He has also received two call-ups to the Uganda national team, featuring against Guinea and Somalia.
“I’m thrilled to join BUL FC and already feeling at home. I’m impressed with the team’s ambitions, and I believe BUL FC is a team to watch. My move here will undoubtedly boost my career, and I’m eager to help the team achieve its goals. I promise to bring my expertise and leadership to the table, and I’m confident that together, we can achieve great things,” said Kawooya.
BUL FC’s management is ecstatic to have Kawooya on board, citing his leadership and skill as invaluable assets to the team. “Ramz is a fantastic addition to our squad. His experience and expertise will be crucial in our quest for success. He fits perfectly into our style of play, and we’ve been missing a player of his caliber,” said head coach Abbey Kikomeko.
With Kawooya’s signing, BUL FC is poised for a strong season. His presence is expected to bring stability and creativity to the midfield, and fans are eagerly anticipating his debut.
Isaac Wagoina has finalized his move from Express to BUL FC. The forward joins the club after penning a two-year contract which keeps him at the Eastern Giants until 2026.
Wagoina is widely regarded as one of Uganda’s best strikers apparently and arrives at the club with a formidable goal scoring reputation following an impressive spell at Express last season.
The threat he causes in the final third is underlined by his 17 goal involvements, including 14 goals and three assists in 29 games he played as Express finished 12th last season.
He was also the top scorer of the 2023 FUFA Drum tournament with seven goals while playing for Busoga Province.
After sealing the move, Wagoina said;
“Thank you for welcoming me to BUL FC. It was my decision to join this club, I was not coerced.”
“I looked at all the teams that were chasing my signature and BUL was the best amongst all. Arguably, it is the biggest team in Uganda.”
“I looked at its ambitions, ability and possibility of winning great things and all the boxes were just ticking.”
“I then decided as a player that this is the right team I should play for. I believe it is the team that will improve me as a player and possibly also take me to the national team ranks.”
“Therefore, I have come here to work hard and also join forces with my fellow players to see that the team achieves its goals.”
He previously played for Iganga Young, Busoga United and Busei United before switching to Express at the start of last season.
Everyone at BUL FC welcomes Wagoina to the Club and wishes him the best of luck throughout his time here.
BUL Football Club face Express FC this Thursday afternoon in the Uganda Cup semi-final at FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.
The “Eastern Giants” will be aiming to make history as they seek to reach their first final of a major tournament having fallen to SC Villa in 2015 at the very stage of the same competition.
BUL made it to the last-four after a 2-1 aggregate win over Proline in the quarters.
Should they (Alex’s side) defeat the Red Eagles in this one-off tie, the victory will ensure a place in the final against Vipers SC that beat helpless Police fc 2-0
Team News:
In terms of team news, most players who were instrumental in the team’s fantastic run in this competition were released at the end of last season.
However, team manager Alex Isabirye will assemble the appropriate players available and plan accordingly for the big occasion.
“About 70% of the players who played for us last season were released, not because they were not good but because some were out of contract while some had unlikeable characters,” Isabirye said after the last training.
“We are supposed to use players that have licenses for last season, therefore, we have no chance to deploy our new players. We shall now use a mix of young players from the junior team and a few seniors available, ” he revealed.
The team will be dominated by juveniles with little experience of topflight football but Isabirye is confident his lads will deliver.
“We are going to face a good team with a good set of coaches. They are the league champions, recently won CECAFA Kagame Cup, and they have been playing at the continent.”
“However, my young players are eager to play. They will put up a good show and I believe we shall win the game.”
Form Guide
The Eastern Giants head into this one on the back of four wins from our last five competitive fixtures in all competitions and we have lost only once in Uganda Cup, a 0-1 defeat to Proline in the second leg of the quarter finals. We extended our excellent form to preseason friendlies. BUL FC has won eight matches and lost two in twelve pre-season outings.
Meanwhile, Express have won five from seven matches in all competitions, but lost 0-1 to Al Merreikh in their immediate last game.
