MATCH PREVIEW: BUL FC VISIT TOORO UNITED IN BUHINGA

BUL Football Club’s 3pm kick off with hosts Tooro will take place at Buhinga stadium. After a disappointing few results against Gaddafi and KCCA, the Eastern Giants returned to winning ways on Tuesday, subduing Busoga United at Kyabazinga stadium to secure all the three points.

The result seem to have set Isabirye’s men in motion again and they will be looking to extend their winning run since they are with in touching distance with early pace setters KCCA FC. In contrast, Tooro shows no sign of ending their own poor run of form soon as they were beaten 3-2 on their last outing by Arua Hill SC in Arua, their seventh defeat on the trot.

Eleven positions and 13 points separate the two teams as BUL sit in a promising third position on 17 points from their nine matches while Tooro United comfortably lay in the 15th place. This will be their 14th face off in the league since 2013.

Alex Isabirye will be without the Kiryas, Ambrose and Jerome because of injuries. Hamis Tibita will also sit out of this game as will captain George Kasonko who is away with Uganda Cranes in Tanzania . The rest of the players are available for selection.

“I believe we shall get the three points and fans will enjoy the game though I expect it to be tough for us because we are away.” Tooro United has been losing games but I know how coaches react especially after losing several games. They always try their level best to overcome such a poor run.” But I believe the players I have are ready to get the three points.”
“We travelled with only 19 players and they are all fine and ready to play.” Captain – Kasonko George who travelled with the national team to Tanzania misses out but we have a replacement for him.” I have a good squad, and as I have always said that I want us to compete, these players I have here are ready to do the job.”

BUL FC 5-0 Busoga United

After two disappointing games, the Eastern Giants returned to their winning touch with a resounding 5-0 victory over Busoga United. A hat trick from Ibrahim Nsimbe and two more great goals from Musa Esenu and Richard Wandyaka completed the rout at Kyabazinga stadium.

Nsimbe scored his first goal on the 24th minute and doubled our lead five minutes later before Esenu scored our third on the stroke of halftime. The forward then completed his hattrick ten minutes into the second half with a simple tap in. Wandyaka could not miss the scoring party, the forward popped up on the hour mark with a nice goal to make it 5-0.

However, the last thirty minutes of the game faced a goal drought despite both sides creating scoring opportunities but that didn’t bar BUL FC from cruising to a memorable victory in that Jinja derby.

BUL Football Club came from behind to beat Tooro United in October 2019.

Yafesi Mubiru gave Tooro a halftime lead but second half strikes from Musa Esenu and Robert Mukongotya ensured victory for the Eastern Giants at St Paul Seminary play ground.

The home side grabbed the lead courtesy of a goal from Mubiru that came seven minutes from the break, however, Esenu restored parity for the Eastern Giants a few moments after the hour mark. Mukongotya then scored what proved to be the match-winner with seven minutes left on the clock.Tooro United got a chance to draw the game level six minutes later but Mubiru put his kick from the spot to waste to grant BUL all the three points.

MATCH REPORT: BUL FC 0-0 BRIGHT STARS

BUL Football Club and Bright Stars played out a 0-0 draw at Kyabazinga Stadium on Friday afternoon. BUL FC had the most opportunities to score especially in the first half, with the Eastern Giants coming closest in the 39^th minute but Richard Wandyaka saw his penalty kick saved by goalkeeper Simon Tamale.

The Eastern Giants made a strong start to the game and in the second minute, Dickson Niwamanya pocked the ball through to Richard Ayiko and the defender whipped a cross into the box but Tamale was so quick to pick the ball before Musa Esenu could pose a threat.

Two minutes later, Ibrahim Kazindula played in Walter Ochora who launched a long pass down the right flank for Simon Peter Oketch to chase, however, the winger’s cross went far and wide.

Niwamanya was the next to try his luck for the Eastern Giants, escaping the attention of Bright Stars’ backline, he controlled the ball with his chest on the edge of the box but he was flagged offside by the assistant referee.

In the 11^th minute, the visitors also found their way to the box, however, Joseph Janjali was caught offside as well.

After winning the free kick 30 yards from goal, Kazindula composed himself to take it in the 13^th minute, but unfortunately, his efforts sailed over the bar.

Andrew Kaggwa caught Ochora on the ball with just 24 minutes gone and he quickly set off for the box, but steady and alert, the BUL rearguards cleared far.

Two minutes later, Nelson Senkatuka exchanged with Janjali and the later picked out Kaggwa and then Kaggwa fired a shot but Keni palmed it away. The most clear chance arrived in the 39^th minute for BUL FC after Kazindula won a penalty. Richard Wandyaka was trusted to convert from the spot, however, `Tamale dived to the right side to spill his efforts, and BUL quickly won the ball back after the miss but Wandyaka tapped it twice and the visitors kicked it out for a corner.

On the stroke of halftime, Ochora floated a ball into the box again with Esenu the target man but he could not jump high enough to get on the end of it.

The second half started in a similar fashion as Hillary Onek lofted the ball to Wandyaka with the midfielder well positioned in the box, he controlled the ball with his left foot before shooting wide.

One minute to hour mark, Senkatuka rattled the bar with Keni already on the ground but our number one sprung up quickly to stop a rebound from the forward

Alex Isabirye decided changes were needed to force the issue as time ticked on. The coach introduced Ibrahim Mugulusi and Joseph Semujju in places of Niwamanya and Wandyaka respectively, and six minutes after the hour, Esenu also made way for Reagan Kalyowa.

The Eastern Giants had a late surge forward as an Ochora throw in was brushed by Derrick Ngoobi into the path of Oketch but he couldn’t get his shot on target.

Bright Stars carved a chance of their own late on with Ibrahim Kasindi shooting from distance but the ball agonizingly missed by inches.

Three minutes were added after the regular 90, however, the score remained goalless and a point for the Eastern Giants. This draw was enough to temporarily send us above Vipers SC and into second place with 21 points after 11 games. Our next league engagement will be away to UPDF on December 22,

MATCH PREVIEW: BUL FC VS BRIGHT STARS

BUL Football Club will be out to make it three wins in a row when they welcome Bright Stars to Kyabazinga stadium on Friday afternoon.

The Eastern Giants swiftly returned to their winning touch with two comfortable victories over Busoga and Tooro United since losing away to KCCA FC at the start of December, while their visitors settled for 0-0 draw with Arua Hill SC last time out.

BUL currently sit in third place, level on 20 points with second placed Vipers SC but six points behind log leaders KCCA. At Kyabazinga stadium, the Eastern Giants have taken 10 out of a possible 15 points available.

Bright Stars stretched their winless run to three last Friday and it is just one victory in nine outings for the Wakiso outfit who sit in 14th going into this match. Away from Kavumba recreational ground, Bright Stars have collected only one point in this campaign. This will be the 17th meeting between the two sides.

Besides the long term absentees – Ambrose Kirya and Hamis Tibita, Alex Isabirye doesn’t have any new serious injury to contend with.

The Eastern Giants raced to a 3-1 victory over Tooro United at Buhinga stadium. After falling behind early in the game, Ibrahim Kazindula, Walter Ochora and Ibrahim Nsimbe quickly responded with first half goals to tame the hosts.

The home team began the contest on a high, scoring in the 8th minute through a Marvin Ashaba penalty following a foul on Ronald Mubiru by Richard Ayiko in the box.

However, their celebrations were short lived as the Eastern Giants equalised eight minutes later through Kazindula.

Ochora added another goal for BUL FC on the 28th minute before Nsimbe made it 3-1 on the stroke of halftime. But goals were hard to come by in the second half despite the several efforts from both teams to find the net.

A minute after going behind, the Eastern Giants got a chance to equalise but Walter Ochora declined to put his free header on target. BUL however continued to press in search of a leveler but goalkeeper Tamale Simon stood tall throughout the game to deny us at least a point.

MATCH REPORT: BUL FC BEAT RIVAL BUSOGA UNITED 5-0 IN JINJA DERBY

BUL Football Club bounced back to winning ways with a stellar performance at Kyabazinga stadium on Tuesday.

Ibrahim Nsimbe’s hat-trick, as well as goals from Musa Esenu and Richard Wandyaka earned BUL FC a resounding 5-0 win over Busoga United.

Nsimbe put BUL 1-0 and 2-0 up before Esenu made it 3-0 before half-time. The former then got his hat-trick and our fourth before Wandyaka wrapped up the win to make it 5-0 early in the second half.

After a fair opening 20 minutes for both teams, BUL broke the deadlock in the 24th minute through Nsimbe who teased a defender and then left goalkeeper Michael Nantamu down for dead before he shot in an empty net.

The forward was on target again five minutes later as he picked a pass from Pascal Ngobi to score from inside the box.

After several attempts, Esenu finally got on the scoresheet when he made it 3-0 for the Eastern Giants on the stroke of halftime with a clean header at the near post.

Busoga United rarely threatened Saidi Keni’s goal in the opening period, with Anthony Mayanja having a free kick cleared and then the captain getting flagged for offside in the 37th minute at 2-0 summing up the away side’s opening 45.

With BUL in a commanding 3-0 first-half lead, they almost made it four shortly after the break but Simon Peter Oketch was judged offside by the first assistant referee before he could launch a shot.

But it only got better for the Eastern Giants as Nsimbe got his hat-trick goal in the 55th minute with a simple tap in after some decent work from Esenu and Oketch.

Then the scoring party finally came to a stop but after Wandyaka registering his presence on the scoresheet when he powered in a header from close range off Hilary Onek’s conor kick from the left on the hour mark.

Ibrahim Kazindula also tried his luck from distance on several occasions but his swerving shots missed the target on all the attempts.

BUL FC’s points tally now stands at 17 from nine games which lifts them to third on the table, and their next engagement will be away to Tooro United on December 10.

MATCH PREVIEW: BUL FC HOST ARCH RIVAL BUSOGA UNITED

One of the biggest matches on the Uganda Premier League calendar will take place in Jinja city on Tuesday afternoon, as BUL Football Club welcome city neighbors Busoga United to Kyabazinga stadium for the Jinja derby.

As ever, the Eastern Giants will be glad to return to their backyard following their 3-1 defeat on their travels at KCCA FC last Wednesday, whilst their visitors as well have numerous concerns following another defeat themselves last time out.

Busoga United have a better record in their recent meetings with the Eastern Giants, however, BUL remain strong at home as they have lost only once from there this campaign and will aim to return to winning ways in front of their own fans.

Two of BUL’s four league victories this term have arrived at Kyabazinga stadium, and their slip in performance on their immediate last outing may force them to bounce back with a severe punishment to their neighbours.

Isabirye’s men find themselves in fifth place with 14 points ahead of their matchday 9, with Busoga United coming into this intriguing clash placed in a disappointing 12th rank on the table with seven points to their name.

This encounter will be their 11th league meeting since 2016.

All didn’t go well as planned as the Eastern Giants succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to KCCA FC at Lugogo. Goals from Innocent Wafula, Charles Lwanga, and Davis Kasirye put the hosts on the march to victory with Musa Esenu striking the consolation for BUL.

Isabirye’s men were the better team in the opening period but unfortunately, they found themselves a goal down at the stroke of halftime as Wafula scored from range.

The introduction of Joseph Ssemujju gifted them a kick from the penalty mark after he was fouled in the forbidden area, however, he skewed his penalty kick above the goal confines.

Lwanga later caught BUL FC rearguards off guard with a solo run in the 77th minute to extend KCCA’s lead. And just three minutes from then, Kasirye rounded off the scoring with a tap in from inside six yards to seal their win.

Musa Esenu however pulled one back with seven minutes to play but it was too late for a comeback.

**BUL FC players celebrate after scoring against Police**

The unprecedented times have seen us play twice away to police in the previous two seasons without hosting them because of force majeures before our home matches with the Cops in both campaigns.

Contrastingly, this time, the Eastern Giants were fixed to play host to Police early in a game due Friday at Kyabazinga stadium.

And in the run up to that fixture, which will also serve as our league opener, we have dug through our dairies for a synopsis of our immediate last four league match ups.

Police FC 1-2 BUL FC – Lugogo

We stormed Lugogo stadium to face Police in our opening game of the season 2018/19, it was also the first for our former coach Peter Onen in charge of the team.

Villa Oromchan and Douglas Owori found the net in either half as we battered Police 2-1.

Oromchan scored from close range after goalkeeper Davis Mutebi spilled a shot from Hamis Tibita into the forward’s way.

Owori doubled our lead after the break with a neat tap in from a cross following a spectacular counter attack.

Ronald Nyanzi pulled one back for the home side on the hour mark and reduced the deficit but the Eastern Giants held their nerves until fulltime.

We reigned supreme over the cops in the return leg and completed a double over them with a score of 2-1 in Njeru.

Captain Jimmy Kulaba and James Otim scored in the opening period but Ronald Nyanzi, again, pulled one back for Police as was the case in the first meeting.

Kulaba put us ahead a quarter an hour into the clash and James Otim scored the second goal of the team eight minutes later.

The cops managed to record a goal in the 53rd minute through Nyanzi but wasn’t enough to deny us the three points.

Police FC 0-2 BUL FC – Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium

The 2019/20 campaign twinned us with Police on match day two at Kabaka Kyabagu Stadium in Wakiso.

We caught them off guard as they tried to build from the back. Deogratius Ojok intercepted a short pass and scored in an empty net as early as the 12th minute.

Walter Ochora rose highest in the 67th minute and noded home from a corner and put the game out of sight for the Cops.

Police threatened late on but veteran defender Musa Walangalira cleared off the line and Abdul Kimera worked out a brilliant dive and saved Ruben kimera’s effort.

Police FC 2-0 BUL FC – Lugogo

After several seasons of suffering at our hands, the Cops conspired and staged revenge.

Police FC began the game in high spirit and committed various tides in attack but our rearguards stood firm.

Musa Esenu missed a chance to put the Eastern Giants in the lead after the interval, and in a brink of an eye, Police midfielder Tony Mawejje copied from his script as he as well failed to convert a spot kick.

But Police swarmed us several times and finally broke the deadlock when Johnson Odong fired passed Abdul Kimera.

Brian Muluri sealed off their rare victory in the 74th minute with a fine finish.

BONDING CAMP: BUL FC GOES ON TEAM RETREAT.

With many recent additions, BUL FC “The Eastern Giants” have went on a vital trip to Iganga for a team building retreat at Sana Country hotel.

The retreat in progress resumed on Thursday and will last for three successive days this up to Saturday October 16.

While there, the team will work to find greater solidality, bonding and cohesion ahead of this season’s league commencement.

“This is a valuable opportunity for us to understand each other as a team. I wanted players and officials to know each other deep inside and synergize for the rest of the time we shall be here.” Said Team manager Alex Isabirye

“I expect members of the team to commit focus on the forthcoming campaign and pave a way forward to achieve our aims and objectives.” Isabirye stressed

“Equally, I want to thank management for the timely financial support towards this cause. It came really in the right time.”

BUL FC will also work together through a wide range of team-building activities, practice games, and as well exercises.

BUL Football Club is pleased to announce our season-ticket pricing for 2021/22 season in the Uganda Premier League.

Tickets are already on sale at club offices in Masese, Jinja City from Monday to Saturday or relatedly we can at free cost deliver it to your doorsteps within Jinja City vicinity.

With 15 league home games on card, we are cheaply offering ordinary tickets at Seventy thousand shillings only (70,000/=) that comes with our home kit and V.I.P tickets at only One hundred thousand shillings only (100,000/=) and also coming with our home replica jersey.

ALEX ISABIRYE: BUL FC IS BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE

More than ever before, the Eastern Giants have assembled a fairly young squad that will compete in several seasons to come.

Numerous members of the Junior side have been given a node to the first team and a variety of new players in their early 20s have been recruited as we aim to build a dominant football dynasty in Uganda.

Simon Peter Oketch leads the legion of the gifted young players from the Junior team that have earned places in the senior squad for close to three seasons now. And the party is joined by Thomas Kabaale, Hamis Tibita and Aprem Martin.

Reagan Kalyowa is likely to establish himself as a dominant figure for the Eastern Giants while Owen Mukisa and Allan Kiggundu have been given a taste of topflight football by the current management and may mold into the next big things in a short while.

Team manager, Alex Isabirye said he is building a temple of soccer at BUL Football Club, and is willing to take a gamble on young talent with huge potential to perform in the league.

“We are building a team which will dominate football in Uganda in the next three to four years.”
“That is why we are greatly considering young players but mainly from our Junior team.”

Talking of the junior team, this team won the Juniors league in 2019 and the side now claims more than nine players on the first team. Isabirye echoed that these will be the cornerstone of the long-term-project and a viable option to mercenary players.

“We have a lot of good young players. We are refining and grooming them.”
“We no longer want players who only come here to get the money but not to play for the team.”
“We now want players with a thick team spirit.”

Youthful Signings

The club carefully signed proven but quite young players to reinforce key positions – right from goalkeeping to the attacking end after fourteen players were released last season.

Said Keni was recruited to better the goalkeeping area. Then the midfield was freshened up by the addition of George Kasonko and Pascal Ngobi. Ibrahim Nsimbe and Ivan Wani were fetched to sharpen our attack, and all these players are under the age bracket of 25. Other new players in the same age bracket are Joel Abaliwano and Douglas Muganga.

It should be borne in mind that we also signed a promising Jerome Kirya. The attacking midfielder is below 20 years of age.

The club was already rich with established and exciting youthful players like Joseph Semujju and Musa Esenu, to mention but two.

Our manager, Isabirye is working on a formula which will weave them together with the more experienced players to form a steely threatening team.

Competing next season

We now believe we have assembled a strong squad that can attain long-term success.

The club embarked on preparations early enough in response to that unfamiliar 11th finish in the league, and Isabirye said, the Eastern Giants are now set to begin at full speed in the forthcoming campaign that kicks off a fortnight from now

“Our target this season is to compete.”
“The team is good and we do not aim to finish in the 11th place.”
“We have got good players with character. At least, we want to be in the top four.”

BUL has featured in thirteen trial games, sprinkled opponents with goals and notched up nine preseason wins.

NEWS: BUL FC APPOINT NEW CAPTAINS

Said Keni, George Kasonko and Ambrose Kirya have been appointed the new team skippers ahead of the new season.

The players unanimously agreed to have the trio as their team leaders.

Kirya said: “I am excited to have been appointed as one of the team captains. I thank God for this opportunity. I also thank the coaching staff and fellow players for their trust in me. I promise maximum unity so that we achieve the team goals.”

The midfielder, Keni and Kasonko will share the leadership and captainship roles equally and they replace Walter Ochora with immediate effect.
