BUL FC Concludes FUFA Super 8 Campaign With Positives Ahead of New Season
BUL FC has concluded its campaign in the 2026 FUFA Super 8 tournament, a preseason competition that brings together the top eight teams from the previous Uganda Premier League season.
The Eastern Giants kicked off their 2026 Super 8 journey at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo in the quarterfinals against KCCA FC. In an entertaining first leg that officially opened this year’s tournament, BUL FC fell 2-1 to the Kasasiro Boys. Charles Lwanga put KCCA ahead before Reagan Kalyowa equalized from the penalty spot, with Saidi Mayanja later scoring the winner for KCCA. The second leg saw BUL bow out of title contention on aggregate despite a spirited display, dropping into the classification playoffs.
Despite missing out on the semifinal slot, the team showed great character and resilience in the placement matches, testing squad depth and tactical flexibility. The campaign concluded on Monday, 17th August 2026 for the Giants against Entebbe UPPC FC at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo in the 5th/6th place playoff as we lost to UPPC in penalties.
Head Coach Alex Isabirye Musogola used the tournament to assess both old and new faces, handing starts to several new signings including Jeans Brandy Wokorach, Cyrus Kibande, Faizo Matovu, George Kaddu, Frank Katongole and George Masembe, alongside players promoted from the junior team.
Speaking after the tournament, Coach Alex said the Super 8 has been an eye-opener and a crucial part of the team’s preseason preparations.
“The FUFA Super 8 tournament has opened my eyes to see if the players we bought, the new ones, will work for the team. And yes, I can confirm the new players will fit into my system and my style of play. The young players that we have got from the junior team will also help the team a lot. We are trying to build a team that can compete this season,” Alex said.
“We have picked a lot of positives from the Super 8 and we shall take them into the league. The competition, the intensity has prepared us well.”
Attention now shifts to the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season. BUL FC will open the campaign at home against Express FC on 28th August at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
