UGANDA CUP: BUL FC SLASH BLACKS POWER TO REACH LAST 16

  • FT: BUL FC 3-1 Blacks Power (Agg: 5-1)
  • BUL FC progresses to round of 16

BUL Football Club put in a fascinating attacking display to set foot in the last 16 stage of the 2020-21 Uganda Cup season on Thursday afternoon as they defeated Blacks Power FC 3-1 at Kyabazinga stadium in the return leg of the fixture.

The Eastern Giants led by two goals after a fantastic first-half which saw Joseph Semujju and Simon Peter Oketch on the score sheet. Semujju made sure the team took a deserved lead twenty minutes off the clock, and for Simon Oketch, who also scored against the visitors in the first leg, joined the scoring occasion five minutes later.

There was also a chance for Deogracious Ojok to broaden the team’s lead at the half hour mark but the forward missed the ball from close range.

Now with a 4-0 goal advantage on aggregate, Arthur Kyesimira made a double-switch on game resumption in the second half, withdrawing the Peters –  Onzima and Oketch to bring on Denis Oola Okot and Ibrahim Mugulusi.

BUL were so comfortable on the ball and Blacks Power could simply not live with their silky passing hosts, only for Douglas Bithum to get injured. Robert Mukongotya took up his place as Anwar Ntege rescued the tired legs of Semujju five minutes after the hour mark.

The coach also took the opportunity to take off captain Fredson Gwoto and bring on Charles Sempa to see out the match with fifteen minutes left for normal play.

The visitors pulled one back through Michael Siwu’s kick from the penalty mark but Robert Mukongontya struck the team’s third goal late on to seal our spot in the round of 16 having won the first leg 2-0 on Easter Monday.

We shall know our next opponents in this competition after a draw that will be conducted by the federation on a later date.
